We all saw the tragedy that happened last week with shock and horror. What parent couldn't relate with the horror of finding out your precious child was killed god forbid. Then the reality sinks in. My goodness how are we protected here in Lakewood. Our schools are open and vulnerable. Our schools have open playgrounds facing the street and the streets are open to every passerby. How are we going to insure their safety? Can we get security guards? Will that even help?
I was told that a young boy in our neighborhood owns guns. He is a very nice boy and does a lot of Chesed but I am not sure I feel safe knowing there are guns in my neighborhood. What are the chances he will be around of something bad happens? There is a better chance those guns will end up in the wrong hands. I don't want to see all guns banished or armed guards in our schools but maybe a little common sense would work. How about walls around playgrounds and making sure the wrong people can't buy guns. I am not sure how it can be done but it is hard to get a good fake purse these days so I am sure they can make it work with guns too. The politicians should realize we need help. Did the township announce any safety measures? How about the schools. We are scared to send our little children to school please help.
