Say It Like It Is #1-Seriously, Langert Should Resign, Now

In Langert's last appearance on WOBM radio, he admitted to being a partner in a building project in the Chestnut area of Lakewood.

This project had gone through numerous approvals and had variances that upset the local homeowners. Langert said that he was always open about the project, but nobody can recall Langert ever mentioning publicly that he was involved in the controversial project. He also never filed on any of his income statements that he is a partner in any developments.

Most upsetting is that he never mentioned to anyone on the zoning board when he was advocating for approvals of zoning changes, that he was a partner. He never told the public about his insistence of putting his business partners and good friends in positions such as township manager or zoning board members for his benefit.

Joy And Sorrow (and politics)

It is a general rule that most(good)comedians are Jewish. Many people have theorized the reason for this phenomena is that humor comes from pain. In order to have a good sense of humor one must suffer, and we all know that Jews are good at suffering.

There seems to be a close correlation between happiness and sadness, humor and tragedy, joy and sorrow. It seems that both emotions are beneficial in a persons life.

Someone once asked Rabbi Shlomo Wolbe zt"l an age old question- Why was it important for man to be born into a life of suffering? Rav Wolbe answered with a parable. A person that goes through the desert and is overheated and dying of thirst is given a bucket of ice water. When he drinks and covers himself in that water he experiences the ultimate pleasure. If he never suffered he would never have been able to experience real pleasure.

It's that time of year again. Purim. A time when everyone rejoices, gets a little tipsy and gives extra charity. And who else can represent the holiday, then our own deputy Mayor Langert. His reputation to giving(and receiving) is well known. I personally have six thousand reasons why he should receive this honor. We at the Lakewood Times would like to wish him a Happy Freilichen Purim.

Summation of the firearms bills that passed the NJ House. Some of the laws make sense, others sound ridiculous and seem likely to cause more problems than good.
You be the judge.

All of these bills passed are not law yet, they still must go to the state senate.

A588 - Prohibits possession of ammunition capable of penetrating body armor.
Final Vote: 71Y 5N 0A

Could Christie's No Bid Deal for Cleanup Leave Lakewood To Pay A 2 Million Dollar Bill ?

When Gov. Chris Christie awarded a no-bid contract to a Florida debris removal company a day after Hurricane Sandy hit, the administration and its proponents said it was needed for a quick response to the disaster and stressed it was the best way for hard-hit towns to get the most aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

But the move also has its risks for towns expecting tens of millions from the federal government, according to federal guidelines, audits and emergency management experts.

New Jersey faces federal rules that were toughened after FEMA was sharply criticized by Congress in the wake of Hurricane Katrina for allowing no-bid contracts that lawmakers said bilked taxpayers.

What happens when George Gilmore runs the Republican Party? He cares about his neighborhood first and above all else, and gets whatever he wants from Chris Christie.

This summer the state will start major reconstruction of a 12.5-mile stretch of Route 35 -- from Point Pleasant Beach to the entrance of Island Beach State Park -- to rebuild the state road seriously damaged by Hurricane Sandy, Gov. Chris Christie said today.

The $215 million project, scheduled to start in late June, will be funded with federal transportation money and expedites reconstruction plans for that road because of storm damage, he said.

Police say Aaron Williams, 25, wanted to wear a pasta strainer on his head for his license photo. Williams says he practices "Pastafarianism."
Motor vehicle workers in Dayton called police on a man who insisted on wearing a pasta strainer on his head during the taking of his driver’s license photo, according to a police report.

South Brunswick police officers responded to the MVC facility on Route 130 on a call that a man renewing his driver's license refused to remove the strainer on his head, according to a police report.

The man, Aaron Williams, 25, who gave an Egg Harbor Township address, told motor vehicle workers the strainer was a religious head covering and he had a right to wear it in his driver’s license photo.

Williams said he practices Pastafarianism.
