More than half of U.S. citizens believe that most or all of the country's 11 million illegal immigrants should be deported, according to a Reuters poll released on Wednesday that highlights the difficulties facing lawmakers trying to reform the U.S. immigration system.

The online survey shows resistance to easing immigration laws despite the biggest push for reform in Congress since 2007.

Thirty percent of those polled think that most illegal immigrants, with some exceptions, should be deported, while 23 percent believe all illegal immigrants should be deported.

Gov. Chris Christie said Tuesday that he will quickly sign an Internet gambling bill if lawmakers make the changes he wants to the legislation.

At an appearance in Lavallette, the governor said he could conceivably sign the bill the same day the Legislature approved those changes, or the next day, “depending on how my day is going.”

Assuming the state Assembly and Senate approve an amended bill, “There’s no reason not to sign it quickly,” Christie said.

Both houses are set to consider the bill next week, and lawmakers say they are willing to make the changes Christie asked for when he vetoed it this month. They include a 10-year trial period on Internet gambling and higher taxes on the casinos’ online winnings.

It seems to be happening more and more in New Jersey. Young adults and their families take out loans and spend a small fortune on a college education, but once they get their diploma, those college grads can’t find a job.

While our Lawmakers here in Ocean Monmouth are busy with tanning restrictions and laws to benefit their donors or themselves, there are some lawmakers that are looking for solutions to serious issues that effect so many of us, and one Garden State lawmaker has decided to change things. Democratic Assemblywoman Connie Wagner is making that change.

Anyone who has seen the tax bill on their home rise ten times what it was when they bought it, realizes the unfairness of raising taxes as property values rise.

Conversely, hurricane Sandy is teaching us that relying on revenue
from property values as a sole means of income can be risky to municipalities as well as unfair to homeowners.

Early estimates indicate that Ocean County lost at least 2 percent of
its tax base to superstorm Sandy.
