Hershel Continues To Dig For Answers On Blue Claws Jan 20 2010 10:06 am

. In order to clear up any confusion as to the true nature of the Blue Claws deal, I did as was suggested, and obtained a copy of (most of) the lease. I will  make this as confusing as possible. Ready? Article 4 states that the tenant agrees to pay a minimum of $100,000 per year for rent. In article 5, which is suspiciously missing from the  copy of the original contract, it states who pays the utilities. From the third amendment to the lease agreement, I would believe that the township was paying the full electrical utilities. The amendment states that the town now will pay $75,000 in utilities to be subtracted from the rent which leaves us with a mere $25,000 per year, albeit we would no longer be stuck paying the full utilities which, i can only guess, was obviously well above $100,000.

TLS: We Believe In An Open And Fair Forum For All Candidates Apr 25 2010 10:02 am

To Bigson and others who have questioned TLS’s stand on Hershel Vs Senator Singer: To answer your questions, we give everyone an opportunity to submit their opinions, articles or criticism, when done in a respectful manner. Yes, Hershel is one of them. One reader asked “Why is Hershel given an automatic platform to write whatever he wants on this site?”. The answer to that is, he doesn’t. The next time you meet Hershel, please ask him how many of his articles were rejected. Many readers have taken the opportunity and time to write us, and many of them are posted. Those are what we call the ’Readers’ Scoop’. If you wish for us to print your articles or opinions, feel free to send it to us at thelakewoodscoop@gmail.com and we will review it.

Whenever I visit Washington, D.C., I'm always struck by the quiet simplicity of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

So, on a day where every columnist and newscaster rehashes the generic importance of Memorial Day, I thought I'd mark the holiday by listing the 145 service members from New Jersey who gave their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan:

A New Jersey police officer with a history of disciplinary issues reportedly firebombed the home of his supervisor, authorities said.

Michael Dotro, 35, a 10-year veteran of the Edison Police Department, allegedly used an incendiary device to set fire to the Monroe Township home of Edison Police Department Capt. Mark Anderko while Anderko and his family slept at around 4 a.m. Monday, NJ.com reports.

Anderko, his wife, his two children and his 92-year-old mother escaped unharmed, but the two-story colonial-style home was heavily damaged.

Acting Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey said the investigation was ongoing. A judge set bail at $5 million cash, NJ.com reports.

Dotro’s attorney, Lawrence Bitterman, said he was stunned by the arrest.
