Cory Booker's View On Same Gender Marriage Explained

A few weeks ago in a public divergence with Gov. Chris Christie, Newark Mayor Cory Booker said he is firmly against leaving the question of gay marriage up to a public referendum.

"I shudder to think what would have happened if the civil rights gains, heroically established by courageous lawmakers in the 1960s, were instead conveniently left up to popular votes in our 50 states," Booker said in a statement.

This is why Mayor Booker, who had written in the past that he was disgusted by Gay people, has done a complete turnaround and become an advocate for equal rights for Gay couples. It is because of his dedication to civil rights. All people should be equal, and he makes no exceptions. Although he is probably still uncomfortable with their lifestyles, he did not let his personal feelings stand in the way of his devotion to freedom for all.

"Equal protection under the law – for race, religion, gender or sexual orientation – should not be subject to the most popular sentiments of the day," Booker said. "Marriage equality is not a choice. It is a legal right. I hope our leaders in Trenton will affirm and defend it."

Booker has been a strong advocate of marriage equality for years. Since being elected mayor, he has refused to perform marriages at City Hall in protest of what he cites as inequalities in the state's marriage laws.

Just to clarify. This article was written as an offensive to those that might criticize SCHI for honoring a politician as socially liberal as Corey Booker. For those that think that certain politicians have an agenda to promote alternative lifestyles, they should understand that it is simply a civil rights issue. SCHI is not a religious organization and does not promote Torah Judaism. They are an organization for special needs children and whatever politicians help them reach their goals should be understood, especially when their views can be understood as a moral as opposed to immoral issue.

But for someone that represents a religion that is opposed to the views of such politicians to publicly meet with them and bestow honor upon them, is a whole different thing. The VAAD AND THE RABONIM THAT GO TO MEET WITH CORY BOOKER ARE SPITTING IN THE FACE OF THEIR TORAH THAT THEY HOLD SO DEAR.
Not because Cory Booker is a bad guy, because he is not, but because he represents our modern political outlook that stands diametrically opposed with their view of true Torah Judaism.
