Downtown Parking Improvements Explained

There is a fine line between creating parking ordinances that will benefit shoppers and merchants and at the same time help them avoid receiving parking tickets.

The Township has finally installed limited parking hour signs in designated areas that are the most accessible to stores in the downtown area.

This is being done to prevent people from parking all day where shoppers and merchants need to have a better chance of open spots for their businesses. Very often merchants themselves would park in the most accessible spots all day.

With the new signs the town is creating an awareness that drivers should not leave their vehicles all day in areas that are needed for shopping. There are more than enough spots in parking lots further away from Clifton Ave.

It is important to note that there will be no fines given, but warnings will be placed on vehicles that are seen taking advantage of these restricted parking spaces by parking all day. Persons given a warning will have their license recorded and only if they continue to ignore the time limits they will be given a fine.

These new time limits are being implemented to make the downtown area more accessible, and create a more pleasant shopping experience. They are not going to be used as an excuse to give the casual shopper, that may find himself shopping a little longer than the time limit, a ticket.
