From an email sent out by Larry Simons to Lakewood residents. Larry is a well known advocate in the senior community.

Are you dissatisfied with Lakewood's current political system?

Wouldn't you prefer to directly vote for your Mayor rather than having the members of the Township Council make that decision for you-- without your presence as is currently done?

If enacted into law, the petition I am circulating will give each of us the opportunity to directly vote for our Mayor.

The Faulkner Act- (Mayor-Council) (N.J.S.A.40:69A-1 et seq.) allows citizens of New Jersey municipalities to adopt a mayor-council government. This form of government lets voters directly elect a mayor.

Larry Simons

F.Y.I.--The following Ocean County municipalities have adopted a mayor-council system:

Berkeley Township
Brick Township
Manchester Township
Toms River Township
