This year seems to be quickly becoming one of the worst flu seasons in recent memory. Experts say the mild weather and dry air are helping spread the virus. This years strain is a particularly nasty one causing high fevers, muscle aches along with the usual sneezing and coughing.

There are ways you can spare yourself the five days in bed writhing in pain.

  • Number one is to get a flu shot. It takes 3 days plus for the shot to take effect and build antibodies.
  • Other precautions are to clean anything touched by hands in the home with disinfectant and Clean your hands before touching your face or eating.
  • If you have flu symptoms, stay home so you don't get others sick. Drink plenty of fluids and make sure you see your doctor.
  • If caught early enough he can give you a drug like tamiflu which could reduce the days you will feel sick
