I Can't Answer My Phone Anymore!(Submitted)

I have been living in Lakewood since the Lakewood list was one thousand families. In those days we used to get a chain call once in a while to say tehillim. Once in a while we would get a robo call for an offer for security systems or a travel package. When they passed a law to be placed on a no call list we did it right away and were relieved when most robo calls stopped.

But now we get a seemingly unending stream of calls for a different dinner or Chinese auction or tea or play etc. We never bother answering the phone it is always a recording. The worst part is while i am doing homework with my children or even as late as putting them to sleep we all hear a man screaming in English or Yiddish to make sure to come to their event. If I would go to each of these events I would never see my children.

Who gave all of our numbers to these lists? Is there an opt out list? I know which events i plan on going to I don't need to be reminded at 11 at night. I am considering throwing out our home phone and just using our cell phone.
