NEWSDAY is reporting that, when it comes to corruption, everything from real-estate deals to building permits to public jobs can be bought from unscrupulous pols looking to line their pockets.
Castelluccio called the current political culture “one gigantic dirt-bag circus.”
71-year-old operator of the Deerkill Day Camp Bob Rhodes says bribery related to real estate has a long history, in Rockland.
“Corruption around building in Ramapo goes back at least 50 years,” Rhodes said. “Zoning laws are being used to enrich builders and the intermediaries between the lawyers and the builders.
Rockland County DA, Thomas Zugibe, said he believes most elected officials truly act on behalf of their constituents, but that cases of corruption like this past week give everyone a “black eye.”
