Tonight there is an Asifa at Lake Terrace for women and girls above twelfth grade. Phone calls and advertisements implored every woman to come. Some schools are requiring attendance.
Everyone knows what it is about, and as usual those that need to hear what anyone has to say on the subject will not be there.
The only thing these Asifas manage to do is to make the women of our town feel like second class citizens that feel that their every action is responsible for all of our ills.

Instead we should be having Asifas thanking the women for all that they do. Without them there would be no homes, no schools, and no Torah. The self sacrifice that most women in this town face on a daily basis should be stressed more than the wrong clothing choices of a few.
Perhaps we need an Asifa for the men to show appreciation an sensitivity to the needs of their wives.
