Just recently we reported how the former secretary wrote herself a check of $80,000 without the Commissioners approval. Many Lakewood residents have chosen to protest the 5 member Board of Commissioners lack of cooperation and transparency by voting in new Commissioner Larry Loigman last year.

This year however, applying to be a candidate on the ballot for the February Fire Commissioners elections seemingly turned into what is better known as corruption. We write this article after multiple attempts to secure an application and being sent home empty handed by the Commissioners office with all sorts of excuses.We have yet to receive any paperwork to apply as a candidate on the ballot and are being forced to run as a write-in.
Each year the elections are held on a Saturday in February at the Station 67 on James st. and River Ave. With limited parking and an overloaded rush of Jewish observant voters trying to reach the polling station after the conclusion of the Sabbath has made the need for additional locations apparent for any fair elections. Yet the Lakewood community has been turned down each time additional polling locations have been requested to accommodate all voters.
Why are the Commissioners so afraid of a fair and honest elections? Do the Commissioners really believe sabotage tactics will help them?
