If you think this is ridiculous speak up! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but this is just a drop in the bucket to the irresponsible spending our town is suffering from.

![]() After many years in the making the Lakewood Township Committee is happy to announce the opening of the newly renovated state of the art public bathrooms. These two bathrooms are located in the Lakewood Municipal Building right to the side of the courthouse. For years these foul-smelling bathrooms have been run down with leaks, broken tiles, and poor lighting. For almost a year now the bathrooms have been boarded up and closed to the public during renovations. The best engineers, architects, and contractors have quickly completed this beautiful project in under 12 months. Thanks again to the Committee and all others involved for a job well done!” Is this what the Townships press release will look like if they ever completed renovating these bathrooms? Will they ever reopen these bathrooms to the public? It has been close to a year and yet there has been no progress with these renovations other then the big wooden signs screwed to the doors stating ” RESTROOMS CLOSED”. The township is expected to pay close to $50,000 to clean-out and rebuild bathrooms?!?! I have taken the liberty to speak with many prominent local contractors who all stated they would do the job for under $15,000 and in less then 4 weeks. Why are we paying through the roof? Why are the public bathrooms closed for so long? Why do we allow our government to waste our tax dollars? And most importantly, why aren’t we sending all these projects to a public bid? If our politicians are really trying to save money and lower taxes, then look no further than your own bathrooms!

We can't open it to the public as that's where we make all of the backdoor deals on taking every last penny from the taxpayers.
