The former mayor of New Jersey's largest suburb is set to be sentenced on federal corruption charges.

John Bencivengo is due to appear today in U.S. District Court in Trenton.

The former Hamilton Township mayor was convicted last November on extortion, money laundering and bribery-related counts. Bencivengo resigned as mayor of the Mercer County community the day after he was convicted, and now faces several years in prison.

Federal prosecutors said Bencivengo took $12,400 in bribes from a health insurance broker between May and July 2011. In exchange, he promised to use his influence to help the broker keep a health insurance contract with the township's school district.

Bencivengo's lawyer claimed the money was a loan and that his client didn't have the ability to influence school board decisions.

I hope to one day see white smoke rising from the chimney of California Swirls, indicating the selection of a new Deputy Mayor of Lakewood. Viva el papa Tzvi Hershele!

Harold has a better chance of being elected pope, than winning an election in Lakewood.

Unfortunately for you, your allegation has no ground to stand on. The person you are referring to live on the other side of where the new sidewalks are being installed
Do your homework next time sweety.
