Planning Board Votes On Smart Growth

Tonight the planning board has made it very clear that they care about certain special interests over the needs of the citizens. The problem was that few people showed up to protest.
In the end we will have to deal with a project that will be equal to three westgate developments. The ramifications are obvious. I do not need to go on anymore about this. Let this be remembered as the moment that our planning board let down the people of Lakewood.
The planning board showed some concern about impact fees and the need for infrastructure, but the overall idea of adding thousands of homes on a property that is meant to be a tax benefit to our town, and making it a tax loss was not addressed.
The meeting ended with Shuie Shmuckler asking for a vote because he wanted to get home to eat supper already. The whole future of Lakewood was decided tonight and Mr. Shmuckler was in a rush to vote so he could eat. I hope it was a delicious supper.

This is fine- Once the feds haul away all the corrupt people this will be reversed. This is great material for a federal investigation.

are you really surprised ? look around this town ,we really don't need a planning board as there is no planning ,houses built anywhere on top of each other, right next to railroads, rentals with no controls, lack of parking facilities for schools and businesses daycare run out of residential homes ,etc. etc. etc. etc.

industrial park should be a no school zone. those now there are grandfathered in but no NEW ones allowed. We need more commercial rateables to offset the new construction. even though houses are taxable the current tax rate does not cover the additional expenses incurred. Busing, garbage, etc etc...

Why do your comments have to be nasty? Why cant you just make your observations and opinions in a professional manner? You will never succeed in your goal if you constantly demean and ridicule. Bring something POSITIVE and maybe people will back you.

Whats ur point? Whether or not a building is occupied the owner still pays taxes. Once u allow schools there the buildings can b owned by them and r taken off the tax rolls.

They get on by aggreeing to support what the various powerbrokers in town will tell them to. Whoever said it before was right the feds are coming and some 'chashuva' people are gonna be going away for a lonnnnnng time. Power and money has corrupted a few in town to the point where they don't see the writing on the wall. But their gonna fell the heat one of these days and we will all be better off when they do.
