Police Chief Concerned About Orthodox Gun Ownership

In a recent exclusive news story on a Lakewood website, police chief Robert Lawson wanted the people of Lakewood to know that applications for gun permits were up.

From TLS
"In an interesting twist, says Chief Lawson, recent applications is especially strong among the Orthodox community."

The chief of police felt it important to focus on that seemingly mundane fact. What importance is it to announce in an article about gun ownership that the Orthodox community is a large percentage? Imagine the uproar if he would have said how many African Americans wanted to own guns. The fact that Orthodox Jews are a large percentage would make sense in a town that is mostly Orthodox Jews and illegal aliens that could not get a gun legally.

The article which focuses on Jewish gun ownership is in my opinion a blatantly anti Semitic statement. It shows that our police chief looks down on the community he is handsomely paid to serve.

I in no way condone gun ownership, and any person that has a gun in his home, especially with small children, has an awesome responsibility. Had Lawson focused on the idea of gun safety for families that have kids it would have been understandable. As his comments stand, they sound racist, plain and simple.

True. He showed his true colors. Who cares that jews are applying for guns. We should all join the golf club next. I bet he wouldn't let us in to his little club. Lawson is an old school anti Semite. But as long as they give him boku bucks he does as he is told. He also probably accepts a little inter dem tish also just to keep his pocket stuffed

Although I particularly dont care much for Chief Lawson, I took the remarks as a warning to a would be burglar targeting orthodox homes.

I really don't spend my time hating anybody. I simply hate the things certain people do. I feel bad for many of those people, and when push comes to shove I always retreat instead of going full force against them because I cannot embarrass them publicly. I know they would never act the same towards me, but nevertheless I cannot lower myself to their level.
