Republican Assembly members are calling for a constitutional amendment that would allow voters to recall their elected officials for corruption and other reasons.

Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb says Wednesday that recall elections are working in 19 other states where more than a dozen state legislators were removed after 36 recall elections.

The New York proposal would allow for recall votes every general election in November.

About 20 percent of voters in the official’s last election would have to sign a petition to force a recall vote.

Several legislators and former Democratic Comptroller Alan Hevesi have won re-election while under investigation and even under indictment. But Assemblyman James Tedisco, the sponsor of the bill, notes recent exceptions as voters have become fed up with corruption in New York politics.

Yeah yeah. Big talkers all of you. Nobody is willing to get the people together to do what needs to get done. Everyone needs to make a living and has a life and has no time to get rid of these corrupt politicians. And that is how they end up succeeding and going on to even higher office.
