In continuing efforts to address the congestion along the Route 9 Lakewood area, 30th District legislators Senator Robert W. Singer and Assemblymen Sean Kean and David Rible have announced that there is an allocation for a Route 9 Lakewood congestion relief project study included in the FY2017 capital program.

The lawmakers have been vigilant in working with the Department of Transportation to address the area’s long term transportation needs, and are confident the study would be a giant first step toward alleviating the burden on that area of the District’s traffic community. The preliminary study is scheduled to begin in 2014.

The 30th District is home to Lakewood, which borders Howell, and the region has experienced tremendous growth. Route 9 traffic congestion is one of the demands associated with the area’s development.

Senator Singer stated that he and his colleagues in the Assembly have remained committed to resolving this issue.

“We understand the need to keep the growing population mobile and the study will reinforce the need for these improvements and move the projects forward.” TLS.

Do you blame them? I can understand why it would not be posted. What i don't understand is why a comment like "is this happening because it's Election Time? is not being posted on TLS.

This is not a project to fix route 9. It is a bs (bob singer) stall tactic to provide funding for a traffic study. Waste of taxpayer money. HH would have had the street widened years ago. This is going to waste millions and we will be in traffic for years.

Hh runs it and only allows comments he likes. Mention specific stuff not flattering to him and it never gets posted. Doesnt give anyone a chance to refute his claims

Route 9 will never be widened. The properties that border Route 9 have buildings too close to the roadway. Therefore widening would require not just the buying of a piece of property but also buying the buildings. The idea of widening Route 9 has been around for years. Some property owners built buildings close to the roadway in hopes of making a windfall $$$$ if ever it is widened. And the township just let them build close.

Does not take a genius to figure out that this section of route 9 needs to be widened ,has anyone ever heard of eminent domain, here is a case where I would actually support the use of this law because its for the good of the majority who use this roadway ,thats actually a legitimate application of the law unlike in some cases where it was done to provide profit to builders and took property from homeowners to build condos which should never happen
