What a Difference a Real Mayor Makes

In a recent press release, Mayor Isaac Akerman has announced that he is actively looking for a solution to the Tent City issue in Lakewood.

Akerman announced that "as a compassionate community, we will be seeking housing alternatives for the people of tent city."

While some may be skeptical whether those living in the woods would be cooperative, his message was clear to all. He is not turning a blind eye on the homeless issue like some of our previous Mayors have.

Last year Menashe Miller hardly ever discussed the homeless at all, allowing lawyers to take care of the situation, and made no progress while racking up many billable hours. Before him there was Steven Langert who harassed the homeless and got the Township embroiled in the legal issues, wasting millions of dollars on fees. He was famously quoted as saying. "They don't belong here, why don't they move to California". His words were no less insensitive and damaging to the image of Lakewood than his mentor Bob Singer's when he told a reporter "It's my forest and they have to leave."

So now we finally have a Mayor that understands what needs to be done. Perhaps his insight and understanding will help erase the tarnished image that our previous Mayors have brought on our town. We look forward to seeing what his positive insight will bring to all the other issues facing our town as well.

First thing, the Lawyers that are representing tent city "lowenstein" are the same lawyers representing Cedarbridge. So it's a BMG issue, not A Township Issue. Does BMG want to try a grab for that one as well with a back door deal? Senator to the rescue
